When I try to insert addresses from my address book in
Yahoo, I get a message "Error on Page" and can't get to my
address book. I also get a "buzz" when that happens. Then
today when I tried to get realtime scores on the
USOpen.com site, I got the same buzz and it wouldn't let
me in. Then when I tried to post a new message here, it
did the same thing. I'm using my laptop since my desktop
won't work. Anyone have a clue? Yahoo thought I might have
a Java problem but I can't see it.

Thanks, Brian

Quite by accident I discovered what was causing my problem. I use a utility
called AdSubtract to suppress all those annoying pop up ads, banners, etc.
When I shut the utility off, the error on page problems goes away.

You have IE 6,

Try this: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing
Uncheck the Enable 3rd party browser extensions

If this clears your problem then find out who the culprit(s) is/are with
these tools.

Let AD-Aware Scan your system for advertising Spyware
http://www.lavasoftusa.com

or:

SpyBot-S&D
http://security.kolla.de/

p.s Reset the 3rd party browser setting.

Henri:

I appear to have the same issue -- but, I'm confused.

When I have the "Enable 3rd party browser extensions"
checked, I get the buzz. When I uncheck it (and reset),
the buzz goes away, but then I get a pop-up add from
Orbitz.

My confusion is that I use SpyBot S&D, and I have
the "Enable 3rd party browser extensions" checked -- and
I still get the buzz... is there something I need to
configure on the SpyBot S&D to resolve this (and rid
myself of the annoying buzz)?

Thanks!

Get this HOSTS file maintained by Mike Burgess. It will stop the popups from
Orbitz and many others. There is also on the site a .bat file to toggle this
file on/off when you want to see some pictures.

The best way is to block the server from tracking you in the first place
Blocking Ads with a Hosts File and AdShield. Under the Security Tab download
the hosts.zip file.

If SpyBot S&D did not detect a parasite then you may have a new parasite or
a variant.

Go to http://www.spywareinfo.com/downloads.php#det
Download "Hijack This!" [freeware] or download direct (below):
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/hijackthis.zip

If you get a 404 error or Access denied, try:
http://216.180.252.218/~spywareinfo.com/downloads/tools/hijackthis.zip

Unzip, double-click "HijackThis.exe" and Press "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log"
button.
Click: "Save Log" (generates "hijackthis.log")

Next, HijackThis | Config [button] | Misc Tools [button]
Click: Generate StartupList log [button] (generates "startuplist.txt")

Next, go to the below location:

Sign in, then copy and paste both files in your message.
