Hi,

When do you get this error? Randomly ?
During the boot sequence? If yes, at what stage?
Are you able to reproduce it after a specific action ?

This kind of crash can have multiple sources.
Without a memory dump analyse I have no technical way to point on the faulty
thread. A memory.dmp analyse could not be done on newsgroup so I propose to
you to contact Microsoft support:

It "blue screens" about half way thru W2K boot up. I think
I'm just going reformat and upgrade.

Typicaly this kind of blue screen appears due to faulty driver or faulty
filter drivers (comes from antivirus or system agents).
Without a memory dump it is impossible to identify it.
However you can try to update your drivers and uninstall your antivirus and
system agents as compaq or IBM agents.
If the pb does not appear back one of this soft may be the cause of the
crash.

Aurelien
