Is it time.nist.gov you are using or time-a.nist.gov?
I have been using time-a.nist.gov for a long time and it has never
given any trouble.
I have also downloaded nistime-32bit.exe from URL
ftp://time.nist.gov/pub/daytime/nistime-32bit.exe and hagve installed
it as a free-standing application for synchronising time manually. It
gives you a choice of several servers, and it works beautifully.

Where are you located? Aurora,IL. 25 miles west of Chicago

Worked great!! Now I get an another error message that "the RPC serverwitan said:Double-click the time notification in Systray to open "Date and Time
Properties".
Click the "Internet Time" tab.
Click inside the "Server" box, and type "time-a.nist.gov" (without the
quotes). Click OK.
That is how I did it. Should work for you too. In fact, I have three
choices now: time.windows.com, time.nist.gov, and time-a.nist.gov, and
I have kept the last as the default.

Worked great!! Now I get an another error message that "the RPC server

Thanks for your time, Rock. Good Luck to you and yours...Rock said:tick.usno.navy.mil should work ok in your area. I gather from your
latest post that it's resolved for you. Aurora, eh? We won't hold that
against you.I was raised in Chicago on the southwest side. Still
have relatives in the area. They threw me out long ago, said I gave the
old town a bad name. Lol... good luck.
That did! Thanks..witan said:Is it possible that "Windows Time service" is not running on your

I saw Wesley Vogel's advice on another forum
http://www.eggheadcafe.com/software/aspnet/29858541/auto-time-sync-not-workin.aspx
:
" ... An error occurred getting the status of the last
synchronization. The RPC
Server is unavailable.
Make sure that the Windows Time service is running.
Open Services...
Start | Run | Type: services.msc | Click OK |
Scroll down to and double click Windows Time |
If the Startup type is Disabled, set it to Automatic or Manual |
Start the service by clicking the Start button | When the service
starts,
close Services
Try to update the time again.
Sometimes the server is just busy, try again later...."
I (witan) am not an expert, only a comparatively experienced user. I
hope a genuine expert like Wesley will look into your problem and
advise you accordingly.
