allation diskette."

Two desktop icons that use the same DLL report the same error message.

This is the DLL file C:\Windows\System32\MSCVIRT.dll.

I assume the error message refers to the Windows installation diskette. Is
it posible to download the single DLL file, and replace the corrupted file?

Hi,

No, but you can probably find one under C:\windows\servicepackfiles to
replace the damaged one with.

Thanks for responding but the file wasn't there.

What if I lifted that file from another computer?

I am afraid to run the Windows installation diskette. I would probably make
the problem worse.

Hi,

Have you checked the dllcache or done a system search for that file?

You're good.

I did a system search for that file. I found multiple copies. I went to
Windows/system 32 and changed the corrupted file name to msvcirt2.dll. Then I
copied that file from another folder into system 32. The substitute file
works with the Nortion SystemWorks AND the "Learn XP" desktop icon (Windows
XP home edition multimedia training) which went out about the same time as
all these other problems started.

Thanks.
