I am getting the error " The Microsoft Jet database
engine stopped the process because you and anotheruser
are attempting to change the same data at the same time".
I can understand this error but this is only a home pc
not hooked to a network. Is there any way to resolve this
or get in a back door so I can save the file under a
different name?
This can be a sign of corruption but is unusual that this would happen
in a non networked environment.
================================
Possibly you have a form open which is updating a record, look for the
pencil in the left hand margin of the form, and you are opening
another form which is also attempting to update the save record.
================================
Do you have a subform on this form? Do you have the Office 2000 SR1
update applied? If Yes and No then get SR1.
The following articles may help:
248967 ACC2000: "The Database Has Been Placed in a State by User..."
Error

A form contains a subform. A control on the main form references one
of the controls on the subform. The form is open in a single instance
of the database.
248936 ACC2000: Canceling Form or Report Wizard Does Not Release
Exclusive Lock
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=248936
When you start the Form or Report Wizard in Microsoft Access 2000 to
create a new form or report, and you then cancel the wizard, you may
receive one of the following error messages if you try to open a
second instance of the same database:
The database has been placed in a state by user UserName on machine
MachineName that prevents it from being opened or locked.
-or-
Could not use path\databasename; File already in use.
-or-
The database databasename will be opened read-only because one of the
following occurred: the file is locked for editing by another user, or
the file (or folder in which it is located,) is marked as read-only,
or you specified that you wanted to open this file read-only.

Or it may indeed be corrupted.
