And what make the Error message be produced, is it on Start Up or opening an
Application.
Since it is in the C:\Windows Path I will be worried sick, if it is a Viral
file and which make me worried too the .Dat Extension in its tail.
Make sure your system is clean by scanning for malwares and Viruses, also
try to Rename this File to:
c:\windows\chf177~1OLD.dat and see if any of your applications will cry
for it on Reboot or after a while when accessing all applications on your
system and making sure nobody asking for it try to Delete and Run Disk
CleanUp and Defrag in Safe Mode.
HTH.
Let us know.

That's nice, is there a question? What's the context in which the message
appears, and the history of the problem?

I tried the suggest solution and it did not unable to locate chf177~1.dat in
order to name it old.

So what brought the Error message to surface then, do you have Norton
SystemWork?.
Try this little tool and locate or see if it will come up:
http://www.ccleaner.com
Be careful when using this tool, you can use to clean up and get rid of
Encrypted files or Orphans that left behind.

The filename isn't actually chf177~1.dat The actual name is more than 8
characters and you're looking at an abbreviated version of the filename.

A Google Groups search showed no mention of that file, other than your
post. That suggests that some malware was removed by your a/v or other
software, but the reference to the file was not removed from the registry.

Click Start, Run, type REGEDIT, click OK. Press the Home key, press F3,
type chf177 into the search pane. Click "Find Next", and when located,
see if the rest of the name ends with .dat. Once you think you've found
the file, delete the reference to the file. Press F3 to continue the
search.

You can click File, Export, and save the entry to the Desktop, attach
the file to a post in this thread; someone might note whether it's safe
to delete first. If you remove it and there's a problem, double-click
the .reg file you exported to the Desktop and it'll be added to the
registry again. You can create a restore point before editing the
registry too.

I have System Suite 7
