Sometimes, without pattern or warning, the response gets
extreeeeeemely slow and sluggish if I've stopped using
the mouse or keyboard for anywhere from 30 seconds to
half an hour. Only remedy is to reboot. Happens with all
applications *but* never when I'm online. Have added
memory, run a firewall, virus scans, and all updates,
have had hard disk and CPU replaced, have totally
reformatted hard disk *twice.* Sometimes if I put it in
standby it turns itself off and on restart gives me
a "recovered from serious error" message; latest one read:

BCCode a0 BCP1 00000101; BCP2 00000007; BCP3 EFC044D0;
BCP4 00000000; OSVer 5_1_2600; Product 768-1.

IBM Netvista, used almost entirely for word processing.
What on earth is happening?

If you had your hard drive replaced, I'm guessing your
files and registry haven't been replaced. If so I noticed
you didn't include spyware scans for those free downloads
to help with everything they promise but don't tell you
about startup programs and registry items that fool with
your pc. If you don't have reliable spyware removal, you
can it it spybot free at http://www.net-
integration.net/index.php?page=spybotsd#clean The also
have full ducumentation there and can help with running
and fixing problems. It has an automatic backup so you
can restore fixes. You'll also need to remove startup
registry items also , highjackthis is available free
there at http://www.net-integration.net/index.php? and
also has a backup and full documentation at :
