Mary

I am running XP for the home. I have had my HP pavillion
7955 computer for about a year.

In the last month, every time my computer boots up, I get
the message that the module "system32\msiefr40.dll" is
not found.

I have not noticed any impaired function, but I would
like to know how to repair the problem.

Thanks,
Mary

Are you running Ad-Aware? Earlier builds of this program would cause this
error message. If so, uninstall it, and see if the message still appears.

If it doesn't go away, or if you never had Ad-Aware on your system, open
Regedit (Start - Run - type Regedit and click OK). In the left hand pane,
navigate to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run. Double
click Run in the left hand pane, and in the right hand pane, look for a line
with "msiefr40.dll" in it. Right click on that line and delete (I would
recommend you save it by exporting the Run subkey to a .reg file) and
reboot.

If you had Ad-Aware, you can install a more recent version and it should not
cause this problem.
