error message

lotage

ive been having problems with virus worms n am trying to
download some critical updates from microsoft when im
downloading i get an error message which says something
about memory?? but then i get a window which keeps
repeatedly opening with IE Error. if i let it go on it
never stops it got up to like 100 at one point untill i
shut comp down.
can any1 pse help???

.i have actually installed avg and run that it detected

and removed the virus i have also used the symantec fix
tools to get rid of viruses and also have installed
sygate firewall but still when i try download the updates
this still happens.

ps how would i wipe hard drive n start agin??/
