error message

i have been getting this error message randomly,stop
0x0000008e and microsoft say it is a logging or debugging
feature that has been corrected by windows,i have to then
shut pc down and reboot.they said service pack one has a
fix for it but it still happens,anyone help me find out
what program it is?

0x0000008e errors normally point to some kind of ram problem,

typical example. Download the free memory testing utility from
http://www.memtest86.com
This can also be due to corruption on the hard drive. Visit your Hard Drive
manufacturers web site and download their free diagnostic tool.

this is the kb article at microsoft. It reccommends you use the latest
service pack. Thus try a windows update and see if this fixes it, if it
doesn't download and install windows XP SP 2
