Error message while running Scanpst.exe- it aborts.

Scanpst.exe aborts with following error message during Phase 7 of 8:

"An error has occurred which caused the scan to be stopped. No changes have
been made to the scanned file."

I have re-installed Office 2003 twice already- no luck. Please help.
 
A reinstall of Office/OL will not help with a corrupt pst, as it will
continue to use the same pst
 
You can running scanpst a number of times, if that doesnt help you may have
to create a new pst.

Well, reinstalling Outlook will not resolve the issue as it will continue to use the same PST file. But is the PST file is in read-only attribute? If ‘Yes’ then change it and then try again, but if it is not in read-only attribute then the error message that you have encountered clearly indicates that the PST file scan has been interrupted and has caused no results and the damaged PST is still in its same state.

One of the root causes for this behavior could be the size of damaged file as Scanpst.exe tool can not repair the PST file whose size is above 2GB. So, in order to resolve this issue you need to use any third party PST Repair which will effectively repair the PST file and will resolve the problem.
