When I double click on a Word file shown in Windows Explorer, I get an error
message saying "There was a problem sending the command to the Program." The
program then opens OK. I suspect there is an error in the list of parameters
passed to Word. Can anybody explain what might be happening, how to prevent
it, what are the correct parameters to be passed to Word?

There was a problem sending the command to the program

Sometimes you will get the message if ZoneAlarm has been turned off.
Reboot and make sure ZoneAlarm is running OK.

I have no idea where I found this

Try doing this,

You will lose all customizations in ZA

1. Go into the Overview Preferences tab and turn off the autostart.
2. Reboot into safe mode.
3. Go into the folder named internet logs (do a search if you don't know
where it lives it varies per OS).
4. Delete everything in that folder.
5. Empty the recycle bin.
6. Reboot into normal windows.
7. Restart ZA manually.
8. Recheck the Autostart.]]
