error message when activating xp's firewall

hi, i am having a problem with the activation of windows
xp's built-in firewall. when i click OK to save the
changes after checking the box activate it, an error
message appears: "An error occurred while Internet
Connection Sharing was enabled. The dependancy service or
group failed to start." Thus, the firewall isnt enabled.
why is this happening and what is the remedy? any help
would be greatly appreciated.
 
after posting a question and digging around for other
stuff, I found that quite a few people are posting this
same vein of question - hopefully you've had a chance to
browse back even just a few pages on the 19th - I think
you'll find other folks who have gotten responses to this.

Dont bother with the windows xp firewall, use zonealarm -

free and very effective and very easy to setup.
 
Do you have both the Application Layer gateway service and Internet
Connection Firewall service up and running?
