error message regarding internet explorer

When I try to run a program I can't open it I get this
error message

This version supports Internet Explorer, versions 3.0x or
higher and Netscape Navigator, versions 3.0, 3.01 or 4.02
and higher. Could not find one of those browsers
registered on this computer. If one of them is
installed, launch it and try again. Otherwise, install
one of them and try again.

I have recently upgraded to Windows XP and it's installed
Internet Explorer 6.0. And I don't know how to fix this
problem. Please help

Noting by the choice of browser versions, it appear that you are trying
to install a real old program not made to be compatible with XP. Is this
true? Or just a bad guess on my part?
