Error message on startup in XP pro

I am receiving this error message upon entry into Windows XP pro.
Catalog Database (772) Error -1811 (0xfffff8ed) occurred while opening
logfile C:\WINDOWS\System32\CatRoot2\e db.log.

The error just started appearing on day and it seems to have a direct
influence on my internet connection.

Help would be greatly appreciated.

After the error, can you work with your computer ?
Try:
start / run: cmd <enter>
del /q "%systemroot%\system32\catroot2\edb.log"

If it helps, do you have Sp2 installed ?
