I'm sick, sick SICK of this message appearing when I'm trying
to clean a hard drive! Because of this over 10GB is being held
captive!!! Isn't there any SIMPLE tool that can over ride Windows XP
without using DOS commands?

------Update---------

Drive I:/ is NTFS and is a partition of WDC WD200BB-75AUA1
(a 200GB drive)

I tried taking ownership so now I can access "I:\Program Files", but
the folder "nbp" "I:\Program Files\nbp" is denied from me!!!!!!!!!!

[Error message: "I:\Program Files\nbp is not access able, access
denied"].

When I check the properties it shows the folder "nbp" is empty but
before I reformatted it had over 15GB used.

This glitch is costing me space and frustration for I had important
info in the "nbp" directory!

Under the securities tab XP denies me to change it too.
I'd be better off using win98 than to put up with this BS!
The folder NBP has over 15GB hidden from me!! I am the sole owner and
user of XP PRO but XP is denying me rights?!!

PLEASE, PLEASE HELP me!

I CAN NOT afford to format drive "I:\" for it has over 99GB of
precious data and I have no where/space to move it to a temp folder!!

TIA!

Have you tried taking ownership on the folder, then ticking the box 'Replace
owner on subcontainers and objects'

Then reset the inheritable permissions for yourself on the folder you need
to access.

Problem solved....thanks!
I also applied the solution to other folders that was locked and
recovered
missing data.
