I am receiving an error message when I try to lauch some programs that were
working yesterday. To my knowledge nothing has been changed on my computer
but it is possible that Windows Update has updated some files.

The message is :

C:\windows\System32\autoexec.nt. The system file is not suitable for running
MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications.

Can anyone tell me what to do?

Ricky,
I have tried http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=324767 but cannot seem to
make this work.

First of all the instructions say to insert the CD into the drive -- what CD
are they referring to? I've tried the only Windows CD that I have. It's the
XP Home upgrade CD. When I type in the commands I get a response - 'no
destination specified' for the command.

I think I'm spinning my wheels.

I saw this in another post..maybe it will help..

Search your drive for a copy of the "autoexec.nt" file. Copy to the
"system32" folder. This should take care of the problem. I run into this
all the time with older
16bit versions of my companys program.
