I uninstalled nVidia and installed a ATI graphics board.
When I start the computer now, two error menus pop up
telling me that nvmctray.dll and nvcpl.dll cannot be found
in the system32 subdirectory. I have gone to the registry
and deleted all references to these two files, but no luck.
They keep popping up. Can anyone help me?

See if references to those files appear in MSCONFIG. Click START|RUN and
type that word, then click the Startup tab. UNcheck those items and reboot.

When the prompt that "something has changed" appears a start up, checkmark
its box - and click OK.

that didn't help. Both were in MSConfig, but I unchecked them, applied it,
and then restarted. The error messages popped up again. So, I did it again
but did not reboot. I went to the registry and deleted all lines that
contained the two entrees. Then I rebooted. Same thing. I'm not sure what I
need to do to get rid of those entrees from NVidia.

Ray,

The nvcpl.dll file is needed to run nVidia's Control Panel. The other sits
in your System tray. I would reinstall and then uncheck these options in the
Preferences section. I would also turn off the nVidia 'Driver Helper' in
Programs > Administrative Tools > Services.

Sorry if this seems obvious but......
Did you run search to find the files to delete them?
Good Luck
