Hopefully someone can help me here. My computer has been
running XP Pro for a few years now and have really had no
problems at all. I have re-installed XP on this machine a
few times in past when I have decided to re-format and
clean things up again. This time however when I did this I
get the message "Error loading operating system". Knowlege
base tells me that the error is due to my bios .... I
refuse to believe this as my Bios or anything else on this
computer has changed. I simply decided to reformat to clean
thing up. As a result I have had to revert back to win98
for now but want to put my XP Pro back on. I have tried to
install XP over win98 and that still resulted in the same
error message. I am getting a little frustrated with this
and would like an answer if anyone can help.

Cheers,
Michael

It appears this one is stumping a few people.. I have asked
in a few forums now and no-one has been able to figure it
out for me. A few more details.... I believe it may be
something to do with MBR. This machine was running a
dual-boot with linuxin the past but I got rid of the linux
and restored the mbr with FIXMBR from comsole in XP.
Win2000 also does the same thing for me when I tried to
install that instead of win98 as well. It may be something
to do with the NTFS filesystem and the FIXMBR command?? I
have also done a FIXBOOT from console and still have the
error. I had to do a fdisk /mbr to get win98 installed, but
at least it is working.. HELP PLEASE SOMEBODY....

Michael
