Error downloading codec

I keep looking but seem unable to find an answer to a little problem that
has occured since installing of Pinnacle's Studio 8.

I am 99% certain that this is being caused by Studio 8, as the problem was
not present before installing and it disappeared when I did a 'System
Restore' of time immediately before Studio 8 installed.

The problem is when I play a Wave file in Windows Media player an error
appears in the WMP status bar saying 'Error Downloading Codec'. The file
then proceeds to play. The play list displays the message 'One or more
codecs required to open this content could not be found'.

Is this just a problem that I have or has someone else out there experienced
something similar. As far as I can see no other type of file is affected. So
why it happens to just wave files, I do not know.

Go to Microsoft and type a search for Video Codecs for that version of Media player. Then just download it and it will all work. I had to do it last week. Took about 15 minutes to find it and one to install and then it worked

Hi
Thanks for the advice.

I've downloaded and installed a couple of things from Microsoft to try and
solve this prob. But both seem to have no effect in curing.

The two things are:
Windows Media Video 9 VCM (file name vmv9VCMsetup.exe) and
Windows Media 9 Series Codec Installation Package for IT Professionals
(filename: WM9Codecs.exe)

You don't happen remember the file name or location do you?

This little problem is bugging me, Thanks for your help.
