I stand corrected, it was under network connections & it is called "Local
Connection 3". It is a connection I established with a crossover cable whose
settings were incorrect. I had wanted to delete it & start fresh, but I was
able to change some settings & get up to the point where I can ping either
computer via IP address but I can not ping via computer name. I've read this
means that I prob have to enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP, but I do not know how.
I have read that some people simply select it as a setting... where is this?
Control Panel?
Also, when I ipconfig/all, I get a mixed node type on my XPPro SP2 Laptop &
I get Unkown on my XPPro SP2 PC.
Also important may be that I ran the registry editor on my PC (with unknown
node type), opened this key:
HLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Netbt\Parameters
and did not find these values:
NodeType
DhcpNodeType
