Ok - I give up. I can't do any windows updates. I keep
getting this Error Code: 80093102. There is nothing in
the support about this and the MS tech still hasn't
called me, so does anyone know how to fix this issue?
I've looked in my logs and it also says ASN1 unexpected
end of data, but I've no idea how to resolve this.

I cannot do a system restore, since I've tried numerous
dates and none of them work, looks like I need to turn it
off and back on.

Am I stuck with trying a repair from CD or a total
reformat?!?

Thanks for any assistance.

I have had the same exact problem and I have tried many of the sam
remedies. If you've found a solution to yours, let me know cuz i'
still tryin to figure this whole thing out

ME TOO ............. Update for Background Intelligent Transfer Service
(BITS) 2.0 and WinHTTP 5.1
(KB842773) FAILS EVERY TIME ...

so I cannot get any Windows Updates.

I am running XP Home Edition SP1 and wanted to update to SP2 but have been
through so many different fixes, from deleting WU folders, renaming
CartRoot2. Deleting Data from Software Distribution, started and stopping
services of all sorts and now I am tearing my hair out !!

When I go to WU V5 I get error 80093102 which does not seem to be listed
anywhere ...

And WU V4 I get ...

Failed 30 September 2004 Security Update for Windows XP (KB841873) Web site
Failed 30 September 2004 Security Update for Windows XP (KB840315) Web site
Failed 30 September 2004 Update for Background Intelligent Transfer Service
(BITS) 2.0 and WinHTTP 5.1 (KB842773) Web site

I have tried downloading the update and then unloading it on the local
machine rather than downloading it straight from Microsoft and then I d#get
ASN1 unexpected end of data ... installation did not complete. Same with SP2
.... downloading for IT Pros and from WU and from the CD ... so annoying ...

I have scanned with MacAfee, Symantec and Norton's ... no viruses, Trojans
or worms ...

THIS IS DRIVING ME MAD .............

I have also changed the registry to allow permissions all over and stopped
XP from Certifying incase it doesn't like the files ... but makes no
difference

HELP !

Thanks.
