when sending mail error code 800ccc90 and 800ccc92 server failed. how to
start over..I have yahoo as my default mail. what am I doing wrong. the
messages in wm are stored in the out box and can't send.

First of all, we can't do much with just a fragment of the error message.
We need the complete error messaging in order to do troubleshooting.
Right-click on that error message, copy, then paste it into a reply here.

Is your Yahoo account a paid one? Most free Yahoo accounts don't have
POP access. How did you access Yahoo Mail successfully prior to this?

As for messages in the Outbox, they are there because your sending
parameters are wrong. Again, we need the complete error message
in order to help you fix that problem. In the meantime, move all the
messages in your Outbox to the Drafts folder for now.

Having same problem - I had it setup perfectly, but needed to add another
e-mail account, I tried several times it wouldn't work, so I went into my
original account, tried using same info, didn't work, deleted original...very
stupid and now nothing works. This is the message I am getting:
Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR Login failed.', Port: 110,
Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92
Please help me, I am losing my mind, not to mention my e-mails!

There is some information missing from that error message, like the
server name.

Have you gone to your webmail portal (via your browser), and are you
able to login with the same username and password?

Which antivirus are you running?

Hi Gary,
Sorry didn't get back to you sooner. Life problems. Anyway, here is the
missing part of the error message:
!Task 'cardnallgreetingservice.com Sending/Receiving' reported error
(0X200CCC92): 'Your email server rejected your login. Verrify your user name
and password in your account properties. Under tools click, etc.
I hope you can help me. Very frustrated.
Thanks.

Hi Gary,

I also have Windows Mail, but I can't get that to work either.
This is the message I received:
Account: 'mail.cardnallgreetingservice.com', Server:
'mail.cardnallgreetingservice.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR
Login failed.', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error
Number: 0x800CCC92

Either you are entering the wrong username/password, or else that
account is corrupted. One thing you might try as a possible quick fix
is to delete that corrupted account, restart Windows Mail, then
recreate that mail account. If that doesn't fix it, more drastic
measures will have to be taken.

That type of account corruption is often caused by interference from
a non-compatible antivirus program. Which antivirus are you running?
As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus must be turned off,
although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects.
In a worst case scenario, your antivirus may need to be uninstalled.

If turning off the email scanning function does not resolve your problem,
consider upgrading to Windows Live Mail, because it is less prone to
suffering bad effects from overly intrusive antivirus programs.

Email scanning in any antivirus must be disabled, for reasons
explained here:

Hi Gary,

I tried deleting the account, restarting and re-entering, it did not work.
I then went into my Norton 360 and turned off the e-mail scan, it also did
not work.

When I looked at Windows Live Mail and was going to load it, it said it
would be my default for internet explorer. Right now I have Comcast as my
default. Will it mess up my Comcast account if I change this?
I really appreciate all your help

Windows Live Mail (WLM) does not do anything with Internet Explorer.
Are you talking about a default web page, or a default account in
Windows Mail?
When installing WLM, it will import all your settings, accounts, and
emails from Windows Mail. If after trying WLM you decide you don't
like it, merely uninstall, and Windows Mail will be back just as before.

I understand. Well I installed Live and received this message:

Unable to send or receive messages for the Cardnallgreetingservice (kgirard)
account. An incorrect password was entered. The next time you send or receive
messages, you'll be asked to enter your user name and password for this
account.

Server Error: 0x800CCC90
Server Response: -ERR Login failed.
Server: 'cardnallgreetingservice.com'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC92
Protocol: POP3
Port: 110
Secure(SSL): No

What in the world am I doing wrong???? I'm going crazy!

Frankly, I don't see any reason why you are getting that error message.
All your settings appear to be correct, and the mail server correctly
responds to me.

Did this ever work? Has anything else changed recently (different PC)?
Have you asked your web hosting service (Heritage) for help?
Take a look at their tutorial for setting up an email account:

I GOT IT! I GOT IT!!!! Hi Gary, Well I still was not able to get it to
work, but my intuition made me think it had something to do with the original
password. That somehow it was still in the system and blocking me. So I
went through my papers, found it, typed it in and it worked! It's a miracle.
It's hard enough starting a new business without having my e-mail messed up.
Thank you so much for all your support. I truly appreciate it. Your
determination to help me find out what was wrong, helped me to not give up.

Good to hear it is working for you.
We always assume that the user is remembering their correct password.
