I have tried to install Windows XP Home Edition. I turned
off everything except explorer and I emptied the Temp
Folder. I get error 535FF58H and the message tells me to
contact Microsoft Technical Support. I go into Technical
support aand as I go through the screens I get one that
wants the Product ID. The software has to be installed to
get the product ID. Can anyone tell me either what this
error code means and what I have to do to resolve the
issue or how do I find the Product code so I can get help
form Microsoft. I am currently running Windows 98 SE and
the way it looks I will be doing so for ever.

The product key is the one on the Jewel case for the XP
disc. Just enter that and away you go. Have fun

No, that's not it. It is too many numbers and the wrong
format. Does anyone else have an idea?

That error code appears to be some kind of hardware error, probably
memory. I suggest doing an extensive memory check or substitute the
modules for known good ones and try to install XP again. Memory that
appears good to Win9X may not be as far as XP is concerned.
