Error 1608 qualifying upgrade product

No matter what I do I can not install xp office over win98
2nd edition. I keep receiving error message setup failed
to locate a valid qualifying product on your machine. I
did everything in article 300655, but still receiving the
same message. My first problem was error 25506
ASYCFILT.DLL version 2.40.42751. I followed the
instructions from article 301064. Please somebody help me.

Let me guess - you're blonde, right?! You're attempting to install *OFFICE*
using a version of *WINDOWS* as a qualifying product?! Where were you when
the brains were handed out - doing your make-up?!
