Error: 1607 - Unable to install Installshield Scripting Runtime

I receive this message anytime I try to install new
software. The software is on Cd and it automatically
starts up, but after the initial 'preparing installshield'
message, the "1607 Unable to install installshield
scripting runtime" message appears. I am on the
administrator signon, I'm using XP.

I am having exactly the same problem. I found the
following site, but can't make sense of the
instructions.

It appears that this problem shouldn't happen with XP,
but you and I both are having the problem anyway.

Please post if you learn anything.

I can't run the isscript download suggested in these
pages. The message I get is that the isscript wizard was
interrupted. Also, I can't find the installer file or
the winnt file anywhere on my system (I have searced
through hidden and protected files).

Any suggestions as to what to do at this point?

Out of ideas at this point, maybe repost with steps you've undertaken to
date and maybe someone else knows the answer.
