Error 0X800C0005

I'm new to XP and was told to get the updates as soon as possible. When I try to do this I continually get the error message 0X800C0005. I looked in the troubleshooting section and found nothing. Can anyone help a beginner try and figure out what I have to do to get rid of this message and thus allow me to get the updates?
