error 0x0000007b

I bought more memory for my Dell XP computer. Installed it and started it up
OK. The computer recognized the new memory and all seems well. 10 minutes
later I got the blue screen of death saying that I had a stop error. It wants
me to check for viruses, but I cannot boot the computer, not even in safe
mode without getting the same stop error. I removed the new memory and
replaced the old to put the computer back in "original" condition but still
am getting the stop error. Help!

If you can boot into Safe mode then try to Run a scan from an online vendor,
if not try to hook this Drive as slave in another machine and scan it for
Viruses.

0x0000007B: INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE

"This error often results from a boot device failure. During I/O
system initialization, the boot device driver might have failed to
initialize the boot device (typically a hard disk). "

1. Go to the hard drive manufacturer's web site and download their
free diagnostic software. Run this to check out your hard drive for
possible physical defects.

2. If the drive passes the manufacturer's test then boot your
computer to the Windows XP Recovery Console. If you have a Windows XP
installation CD (not a system recovery disk from the computer
manufacturer) boot the computer with this and choose the Repair
(Recovery Console) option from the first menu.

When the computer has finished booting and has stopped at the command
prompt enter the following command:

CHKDSK /R

If you don't have an installation CD or other method of booting to the
Recovery Console you can create a bootable Windows XP CD on another
computer using Bart's PE Builder from http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/
Boot the problem computer with this CD, open a Command Prompt window,
and enter the following command:

CHKDSK C: /R

CHKDSK should repair any data structure problems with the hard drive
and hopefully your computer will then be bootable.
