Dear MVPs,

I like things neat when I work. I cannot understand why toolbars can
"misplace themselves". There are toolbars that disappear if I open a
presentation not made on my computer.
Is there a way to lock them into place?

Thanks,

Vincent Pozon

Double-clicking on the title bar will nest the toolbar in with the others
across the top of your screen.

I'm not sure if that's the answer you are looking for.

If you want a particular toolbar to display, click view|toolbars| ... select
the toolbar you want.

Weird. The Ghost In The Machine's a messy little packrat, eh?

What bars move, where to and what sort of files make it happen?

Steve,
Can't seem to locate a pattern. Happens with other Office applications, too.
A toolbar out of place -- and all it takes is just one -- can make your
working area smaller.
If it's a bug, then I've made too much ado about nothing . :)
Thanks, good people.
Vincent

It's probably not so much a PPT bug as an oddly written addin.
Do you have Adobe's PDFMaker stuff installed, by any chance?
It tends to do this, as do a few other addins that re-create their toolbars
each time PPT starts.

My old laptop did have it, yes, come to think of it. The only add-ins I have
in this new laptop are PowerPoint related.
But thanks again.

Vincent

OK, but my point was that Acrobat is one example of an addin that makes
mischief like this. Others do as well.
Try disabling your addins and see what happens.
