erasing search data

I recently acquired a used computer after getting a new
job. The computer is running IE 6. The previous user was
obviously big into surfing. Everything I try to use a
search engine (msn.com, for example), as soon as I enter
the first letter, all of the stuff they ever searched for
starting with that letter comes up. This is very
annoying. Is there anyway to either erase this data or
turn this feature off?
