i am low on disk space..i have 55 gigs and only 13 lefs...i just want to clear the whole drive and keep the necessary files needed to run the computer...how can i earse the whole disk drive?..thanks you

If you erase the whole drive you will lose everything including the files to
run the computer. If you don't know how to format & re-install the operating
system I wonder if you should be trying it in the first place.
Have a look at this http://www.cyberwalker.net/columns/aug02/010802.html but
remember all files will be lost unless you back them up.

Hi

Is XP running properly? If so, I'm sure why you want clear everything. If
you want to 'clear' the whole drive, you would have to perform a 'clean'
install of XP, but that would mean losing all your data files unless you
backed them up beforehand. You can't clear the drive and keep files.

Will,

Assuming that you just want to remove files that you created and downloaded, and your e-mail (in Outlook/Outlook Express).
If you’ve been saving them in your My Documents folder or on your Desktop, then just create a new user profile, and delete the old one.

If you want to uninstall some programs, use Add or Remove Programs (Control Panel)

Hope this helps.

If you tell us exacly what you are using the computer for, we can tell you what you need and which folders should not be touched under any circumstances. Otherwise, you could erase the entire hard disk and
start a fresh install of Windows XP. The choice is yours.

To erase the entire harddisk including your personal documents and other data, use the tool from here:
