erase my posting

how do I erase my posting? once I have an answer that works for me there is
no use leaving that message hanging around. can anyone tell me?

You can't. Just post an answer to your own post with the words "Problem
solved", and perhaps some details if you think this might be of interest to
other posters.

That's not how usenet works.....and you can't cancel a post on a MS news
server, sorry. Even if you could, it's been replicated to lord knows how
many other servers.

If you used Outlook Express as your newsreader instead of the horrible web
interface, you could delete your posts locally......

I've seen posts appear as canceled, but just assumed it
was done using some/another non-MS product.

So, how is it done in OE?

By being very quick about getting over to the "Outbox" and deleting the
message before it's sent. Once it's out the door, it's unstoppable.

There's a huge difference between "cancelling" a post on the news server and
deleting the post from your local database.....

By selecting your own message>message menu>cancel message.
As previously mentioned in this thread msnews does not honour cancellations.
