Equation editor is a much abbreviated version of Math Type - you could try
that instead http://www.mathtype.com/en/products/mathtype/win/

Certainly. The equation editor that comes with Word is a "little brother" of
the MathType program from Design Science Inc. (www.dessci.com).

download: after 30-days, if you don't buy it, it operates in a reduced
functionality mode that provides far more than Word's abbreviated version.
