I am using office 2003 and when I use equation editor I cannot get the style
to change from math to text I want to type y-intercept but it keeps changing
it to
y-int ercept.

Just try typing it in using the Math Style, highlight the "y-int ercept",
click "Style", "Text". I just tried it and it works fine!

Bill,

Bill thanks for the try but I already tried that. The style menu just does
not accept any clicks at all it always stays "Math". The style menu appears
but does not work.

Thanks for the try,

Alan

I had this experience in a given document. When I started over with a fresh
document, I had no problems, so I could only conclude that the document was
corrupt.

Suzanne,

Thank you. It was the single document and once I saw that I was able to
track down how it was different. The paragraph formatting was increased by "6
above" so apparently that nullified the equation editors style. Thank you for
putting me on the right track.

How bizarre! I can't imagine why that would make any difference.
