Entering dates in Excel97

1)How can I eneter the date as in this format 01/03/04
also
2)When I enter 01 Jan 04 the cell displays as 'Jan-04'
and
3) How can I make 0 the first digit i.e in a cell I want to display
'012'

All in Excel97

for the first two questions try formating the cell prio to entering
values with the format DD/MM/YY

For the third question you may use the custom format (goto 'Format -
Cells')

Q1.

Just enter as 01/03/04 and format mm/dd/yy
But you might be better entering 3-Jan-2004 because 01/03/04 has 6
different possible meanings depending upon date settings and the
double digit year interpretation setting.

Q2.
Enter 01 Jan 04 and format mmm-yy
At least your entry this time has only two potential meanings and it
is quite rare for the double digit year interpretation to be changed.

Q3.
Just format 000
