When we enter data with a negative sign i.e -28.00, we
prefer it to appear as (28.00) instead of -28.00.

Previously, once we click on the 'comma' sign at the
toolbar, we are able to see the amt with the bracket sign.

But now we are not able to format our newly created
worksheets to show the amt within the bracket.

Can somebody please help? For yr info, we are using
Windows XP & Office 2000.

Thank you very much.

Format > Cells > Custom
and put in here the format you want. For example, 2 decimal places with
commas to group digits in threes, use
#,##0.00;(#,##0.00)
Then format your cells with this format.

You can select the range and format it manually. Choose
Format, Number, Custom and in the text box enter

0.00;(0.00)

Then click OK

Choose from main menu: Format>Cells>Number tab.
In Caterory list, select Number.
Then, here u can select to your preference:
*how many Decimals Places u want.
*whether u want to use a thousand separator
*display negative numbers in bracket.... or even make it
RED colour with braket.

If u want to know more, u can also consult online
help "Create a custom number format" for even more
powerful number formatting.
