Seriously I tend to agree, in the early days they didn't really take
account of the fact that many in the UK had dial up charged by the
minute, here in the US of course local calls were always free.
MS has always tended to assume that all customers had the same kind of
services the US had. I don't really blame anyone for that, but you do
occasionally hit problems with it.
Windows 7 won't come with any email program, but will recommend that you
download Windows Live Mail, which has 37 spell check languages (including
US, UK, Australia, Canada).
Windows Mail was a 'stop-gap' measure, because Windows Live Mail
wasn't ready to be released when Vista was ready. As soon as
Windows Live Mail was released, Microsoft recommended it as a
replacement for Windows Mail. Currently, Windows Live Mail comes
with spelling support for 37 languages, including UK-English.
Why stick with something that was DOA?
I have no special interest in Windows Live Mail except that I happen to
think it is a better email program than Windows Mail: fewer bugs, more
features, such as an auto-complete function that works perfectly, real-time
spell checking, auto-correction of commonly misspelled words,
automatic off-site backup of your contacts, etc.
