Encountered a Problem and must close.

Windows xp home edition. When I start my computer and windows starts I get
message: DirectCD has encounterd a problem and must close. When I start
almost any application I get the same message for that app. If I click
close the application closes. If I just move error message off to edge of
scren the app. will run fine.

Faulting Application directdcd.exe or what ever app i tried to start.

I di'nt know this existed. What info should I be looking for?

Try this first:

WHen the Error Window appears, bring up Task Manager (CTRL+ALT+DEL).
Under Applications, try and locate the Description of the window containing
the error message (if there is one).
Right click on that line, select Go To Process, and see what process it is
telling you that is putting that window out.

If that doesn't work, open EVENTVWR.MSC and right-click on Applications and
Select Clear log. Say no to save. Do the same for System.

IMMEDIATELY reboot

After coming up, when the error message appears, open EVENTVWR.MSC and look
under Applications and/or System and check for a Warning or Error line and
see what it reports.

Each time the error message appears, check the log again, and see if the
error being reported is constantly the same information.

After checking event viewer Applications I find an error 1000 being
reported every time. No matter what application gets the error window.
