i just reformatted my hard drive yesterday and everything's been running
great except for the internet. (i'm using my other computer right now.) i use
a local wireless broadband service called 'digital putty' and i just can't
get it to work. My computer is hooked up to a router which is hooked up to
the dish that we recieve the wireless signal from. The other computers on the
network are all macs so i can't set up a network with them via the network
creator wizard and i've tried the creat a connection wizard as well which
does not work either. when i go to network connections thru the control
panel, the only connection is called '1394 connection'.

if anyone has any suggestions on how i should solve the matter, please comment

thanks

So do you have a firewire cable (1394 connection) to the router or an
Ethernet cable connection? Windows should be seeing the connection on its
own. You did enable a firewall before connecting your machine to the
internet, right? Did you ISP, this "digital putty", provide an installation
disk?

It turns out that i hadn't installed the drivers for my network card though
the instructions led me to believe that i had... anyway, the problem is
solved so no more help is required. For whatever reason the computer thought
that my firewire card was a network card or something even though i have
nothing plugged into it.

thanks anyway
