I'm attempting to disable Windows Firewall prior to installing Norton's
Personal
Firewall 2005.
I'm using a dial up modem.
When I select Control Panel, Network & Internet Connections, Network
Conections, and under "Change Settings
Of This Connection", nothing happens. A new windowdoes not pop up. I don't
have access to Advanced Settings so that I could disable the firewall.
I also tried right clicking on my "Dial Up Modem" icon and then selecting
"Properties" and again nothing happened.

Suggestions, please.

Don't use Norton - more trouble than it's worth. Make sure you have SP2
installed - sounds like you have problems with spyware and viruses already.
Install AVG7 Free, Spybot, Ad-Aware, all free downloads - just google for
them.

Start>Run>services.msc>ok

Find Windows Firewall[Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing
(ICS)] in the Services list, double click on it, set
"Startup type" to Disabled and press Stop if it is running.
