Even when I follow the correct procedure to automatically empty the deleted
items folder when outlook exits, outlook doesn't empty it?

We know nothing so far so it's hard to help.....

What is the procedure you follow? What version do you have? What message
store do you use? Does your IT dept. have add-ins running on your computer
to prevent deletion?

Outlook does not have the option to automatically empty the Deleted
Items folder when its exits. That is an option in Outlook EXPRESS, not
in Outlook. Use auto-archving in Outlook to permanent delete items in
the Deleted Items folder when they are over N days old.

Not so Vanguard.

Microsoft Office Outlook 2002, 2003 and 2007 has a setting at Tools |
Options | Other to Empty the deleted items folder upon exiting.

Judy,

I have outlook 2007 (on personal computer) and it is this procedure that I
have followed. Can you help?

Rich

Try repairing Office 2007.

If that fails, you may need to make a new profile.
