empty new window in IE

i'm using IE 6 on an XPhome machine. i've got the problem
that whenever i try to open in a new window, a new IE
window will open, but nothing loads in the body of the
window. i've started using netscape to work around this
problem, but NS isn't compatable with some online features
i'd like to use (such as Launch Radio, and Atomfilms.com)
whose content loads in java pop-up windows. please help.
