Empty "My Network Places" after SP2 update?

My daughter's laptop was working like a champ: I was able to transfer files
across a network move to a machine and from her machine without a problem.
All through My Network Places. Then I upgraded to SP2. Now I can not
access her machine from my machine, nor access my machine from her machine.
My Network Places shows up entirely empty. How do I get things like Entire
Network back?

Thanks.

Have you checked the firewall settings?

Make sure your drivers are still OK for your "Network adapters". Try running
one of the "Network Tasks" found on the left side of the "My Network Places"
window. Wireless? Try the "Set a wireless network for home or small
business" etc.

Service Pack 2 automatically enables the Windows Firewall. Run the
Network Setup Wizard, choosing to share files and reboot. If you aren't
running a third-party firewall or have an antivirus with "Internet Worm
Protection" (like Norton 2005/06) which acts as a firewall, then you're
fine. If you have third-party firewall software disable the WF and
configure the third-party firewall to allow the Local Area Network
traffic as trusted. I usually do this with my firewalls with an IP
range. Ex. would be 192.168.1.0-192.168.1.254. Obviously you would
substitute your correct subnet.
