I know this remote troubleshooting tool exists for Win2003, but what about XP
Pro? I was able to use bootcfg to turn it on, but when I connected the serial
cable to com1 all I saw was a message saying Windows was starting up, then
nothing (no SAC prompt.)

Does Windows XP Pro support this?

Type or paste this in a command prompt...

BOOTCFG /EMS /?

Hit Enter.

bootcfg ems

Enables the user to add or change the settings for redirection of the EMS
console to a remote computer. By enabling EMS, you add a "redirect=Port#"
line to the [boot loader] section of the Boot.ini file and a /redirect
switch to the specified operating system entry line. The EMS feature is
enabled only on servers.

Hope this helps. Let us know.

Hello Mike,
EMS was new for Windows Server 2003.
The following link has a section with docs that talk about it.
http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/system/platform/server/default.mspx
All the documentation I have seen only references Windows Server 2003.
Thanks,
