Embedded system processor type/speed choice considerations

Has anyone found any guidelines for the required processor choices for
various embedded apps?
I am planning on using a board form factor such as EPIC.
I am researching feasibility for an app which:
1. Has a touchscreen input only and confined user actions
2. Will connect to a network and receive advertising (flash?) files,
information feeds
3. Allow the user to have a Audio-Video chat with a Call Center (hence
driving a Webcam, Microphone ans speakers
4. Needs to display multiple "portals" (sections of the display in this
case) of advertising , info feeds
So, can I use a low-power "embedded processor" like an AMD Geode or do I
need a Celeron or Pentium in the GHz range?

You can use the AMD Geode for XPe. Typically you want at least 800MHz
Pentium III compatible with 512MB of RAM. Anything less would be sluggish
for XPe.
