emails auto delete after viewing in outlook 2003

A customers Outlook 2003 with all updates has starting deleting emails when
they are read or just viewed. They do not go to the deleted folder, they just
are gone when the program is restarted the next time she opens it. Any ideas
on how to stop this?

Click View>Arrange By>Current View and click Messages instead of Unread
Messages.
