I failed to set up an email account when I got my new laptop. I have Vista
operating system and tried to set up an Outlook account. I have Office Pro
and thought this was what I needed. In short...I can receive, but not send
email. How can I straighten this out? Do I need to use Windows Mail? Can
anyone help?

No matter which you use there will be an outgoing or SMTP server
involved and if you have the wrong one set up it will be able to receive
but not send.

Do you actually take the laptop to other places or just use it (say) at
home? If it moves around the issue is more complex. Actually when you
reply it would help someone answer if you could give the settings you
have for POP server, SMTP server and mention who is your ISP.

Office version?

Please give us the exact and complete error message.
