I'm having a similar problem, it seems. I went to the help site and
downloaded the "stuck in the outbox" fix-it, but it didn't fix my problem. I
get the following error message just the same:
The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'RHEM 3', Account:
'mail.comcast.net', Server: 'smtp.comcast.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25,
Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E.
This is a new computer, but I
have not had problems with the email before. Perhaps it is a Comcast problem?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. gaily.

You might try changing the SMTP port from 25 to 587...
In Windows Mail,
Tools - Accounts - youraccount - Properties - Advanced
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) [ 587 ]
leave Incoming (POP3) set to 110
Ok

Please don't post the same issue in more than one thread.

Go to Tools, Accounts, select the Comcast account, Properties, Servers,
enable the "My server requires authentication" option.
Then go to the Advanced tab and change the outgoing port from 25
to 587. Try sending. If you get a new error message, post it here.

I think my problem is outgoing port 110. what should i change it to?

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for
this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity. Account: 'windows mail', Server: 'mail.comcast.net', Protocol:
POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

That's an incoming error message.
Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. Also exclude EML
files from the scan. It provides no protection not provided by the regular
resident protection.
Besides that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and
Outlook Express and should be uninstalled. The latest version of Trend's
anti-virus seems to be causing problems too.

You can only use the ports specified by your mail provider.
Port 110 is for incoming mail, and Comcast has no other choice
for that. Which antivirus are you using?
