Who provides your email service? Or to ask that question another way,
what is the part of your email address after the @ symbol?
Your mail provider will typically have a web page that shows how to
set up an email program. If you need more help, tell us the name of
your email service provider.

I am trying to set up a new email account in windows mail. What is the
correct input for the outgoing email server(SMTP) ?

I have several email accounts set up with different suppliers - Aim, Hotmail,
Google, Yahoo so i do not know how to answer the @suppler question. I am
trying to set up an account in Window Vista email and need to know the SMPT
of the outgoing server.

AOL:

Hotmail:
Windows Mail, which replaces Outlook Express in Vista, cannot access any
http email account.
However, you can use the newer Windows Live Mail to access your http
Live/Hotmail/MSN accounts using DeltaSynch like you may have done using
Outlook Express on XP.
Or, you can use either Windows Mail or Windows Live Mail to access POP3 or
IMAP accounts.
MSFT recently added POP3 access to Hotmail/Live accounts from most
countries.

However, Windows Mail is hard-coded to reject Hotmail/Live/MSN accounts, but
you can fool it by entering a fake email address ([email protected]), then
changing it to your real address ([email protected]).

Yahoo:
The free US-based Yahoo accounts only offer webmail access.
Windows Mail can only access POP3 and IMAP accounts.
If you have the Yahoo Plus account....

Gmail:
Gmail now has instructions for enabling POP and for configuring Windows
Mail....
