email send and receive

Several months ago my email was no longer happening automatically although I
didn't change anything. It is set to send & receive every 5 min but I have to
hit F9 to send or receive. Hope someone can help.
 
Make sure you don't have your Outlook set in Offline mode;
Verify that File-> Work Offline is not selected.

If you were still in on-line try resetting your send/receive settings by
locating the srs-file of your mail profile and rename it to .old
